🌈 Bodies Made Good: Healing After Purity Culture
One of the biggest areas of shame that keeps us from blending the identities Queer and Christian is sexuality and our bodies.
In this series, we’ll unpack the lasting impact of purity culture — the messages that taught us to fear desire, disconnect from our bodies, or doubt our worth.
Together, we’ll learn to name that shame, understand where it came from, and begin to heal it.
This series centers queer voices and experiences, but anyone recovering from purity culture is welcome.
Each week, we’ll hold brave, trauma-informed space for reflection, discussion, and gentle embodiment practices — reclaiming our bodies as good, worthy, and sacred.
🗓 Wednesdays
🍽 Dinner @ 6:30pm
🗣 Discussion @ 7:00pm
📍Donna’s - dm for address
No reading required. Just come as you are — with your questions, your hope, your wounds, and your whole self.
Virtual Book Group
Join us for a thoughtful, curiosity-driven journey through Inspired by Rachel Held Evans. 🌿✨
We’ll explore Scripture with fresh eyes, honest questions, and a community that makes room for wonder.

"The Person in Front of You" Volunteer Event
At SHOC, our pastors Dottie and Donna believe that everyone deserves access to safe, affordable housing and nutritious food.
The most common messages we receive are from people searching for stable housing. Despite our small church doing everything we can with the resources available, the need for housing and food security in our community remains great.
In just the past two weeks, our community fridge has provided over $1,000 in groceries and gift cards to local families. Through this, we’ve learned an important truth — we never really know what the person in front of us is going through.
That’s why Safe Harbor OC Church is proud to partner with @thepersoninfrontofyou and hundreds of Orange County residents for an aerial photo event to create a powerful visual statement for housing solutions.

NEW TOPIC: Sacred Resistance
We’ll explore the powerful themes of Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman — the book that shaped Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s theology of justice and the gospel.
King carried it with him during the Montgomery Bus Boycott, not just as a strategy manual — but as a spiritual framework rooted in the belief that Jesus stands with the oppressed.
This series will help us build an internal foundation for justice: one that is compassionate, courageous, and rooted in faith.
Howard preached a gospel that demanded social transformation, love of enemies, and liberation for the disinherited. That’s the gospel we’ll explore together.
